Emirates Team New Zealand
// Social media keeps the team in touch from all over the world
The Project
During the Louis Vuitton Cup in Auckland, Emirates Team NZ needed a solution for communicating news quickly from anywhere in the viaduct basin and out on the water. Our solution was to create shared and separate Twitter accounts and develop a service to display the Twitter messages, video and images on the Emirates Team New Zealand website. A Facebook page has been set up as well. Team members can now easily update the site from their phones, wherever they may be.
The design and development of the website itself has been a Phosphor project over many years, initially as a purpose designed CMS, and more recently using Umbraco CMS.The focus has always been on providing news, including live video and media downloads, as easily as possible and as quickly as possible from around the world.
What the client said
Twitter gives the site an immediacy that was previously impossible. Race progress can be updated easily by phone from a small boat on the race track; we are no longer tied to a computer. Add video tweets to the mix and we have a way of communicating which fits really well with our operation.Warren Douglas, ETNZ's Communications Manager
